About

Who are you giving to?

There are a number of wonderful organizations right in our backyard who are helping to rebuild the lives of homeless families with children, giving food assistance to the elderly and offering nutrition to those who need it. There are over 400,000 San Diego County residents who are food insecure. Our recipient list keeps growing as there are many in need. Here are a few organizations that benefit from our efforts:

1. Jacobs & Cushman North County San Diego Food Bank distributes food to 112 North County-based nonprofit partners that collect food from its warehouse facility in San Marcos, and they distribute the food directly to people in need in communities throughout North County.

The North County Food Bank’s nonprofit partners include: food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, low-income daycare centers, senior centers, faith-based organizations, schools, and day centers for the elderly and disabled.

2. Solutions for Change was founded in 1999 by social entrepreneurs Chris and Tammy Megison because they didn’t think it was right for babies to be sleeping on the floor of an emergency winter shelter. Their approach is unique, providing a complete and sustainable solution driven by accountability.  Learn more HERE

3. St. Andrew's Pantry sets up a supermarket-style food pantry to serve the community every Thursday from 3-4 p.m. Fresh produce, meat, canned goods, rice, beans, baby food, & citrus etc. is available to anyone who needs it.

History of OCP

Meet Ella

Hi, my name is Ella. In the 4th grade, while walking the trails around our house, I realized there is a lot of waste right in our backyard. We live in a community with rich, productive soil. Our trees give us more than we can use so I thought it would be a good idea to gift the extra fruit to those in need. There are a number of excellent centers in our area that help homeless families get back on their feet. We've heard that parents and children alike would love some fresh, healthy snacks!

Thank you for your interest in helping our neighbors with the gift of health!

2018
